Luis Hernández: “This isn't a setback”

The Blue and White defender analysed the defeat by SD Ponferradina in the mixed zone: “We made one mistake and it cost us three points. We deserved more”.

Costly mistakes

“We made one mistake and it cost us three points. Once again, the team made a great effort, I think we deserve far more than we achieved, but these things happen in football. When you don’t make the most of the chances you have and those that you concede are converted by the rival, the three points are gone. We’re leaving here a little long-faced as we deserved more”.

Good line of work

“We barely conceded anything, and we played a lot of minutes in the rival half. We generated very clear opportunities which we’ve been converting recently, enabling us to take the lead on the scoreboard. Today, this wasn’t the case. I remain with the team’s good line of work, this was a difficult ground against a tough team that has had a run of positive results, particularly at home. The team did what it had to do to get all three points. We’re going to keep working to improve, to concede as little as possible, as this year it seems as though however little we concede, it ends in a goal”.

Not stopping the dynamic

“This isn't a setback. The line the team is on has been good, not just the last two games when we won the points, but before that too. It would have disrupted the dynamic if the team’s line of work hadn’t been good, even if we had won. The team recovered despite the losses and we played one of the best 45 minutes of the season. Hopefully we’ll continue along this line, now it’s time to rest, prepare for the next match and, above all, be aware that this season the Second Division will be like this; very even games where we have to try to convert and concede as little as possible, as it’s punishing us a great deal”.
