Luis H: “Tomorrow should be the first day towards the ascent”

The Malaguista defender appeared in the mixed zone following #LevanteMálaga: “We have to learn from what we’ve done wrong. Next season will be fundamental for the Club”.

Relegation

“The feeling is the same as any Malaguista. It’s a very hard, upsetting day. We have amazing fans behind us. This is an important city that has enjoyed the First Division for the past 10 years, and, unfortunately, we’ve suffered relegation. We’ve been very close to it over the past month, but today is a sad day for everyone. It represents everything we didn’t want to say and what seems unimaginable to us all. From today we cannot wallow in regret. We have to look at ourselves and be self-critical of each one of us. We have to learn from what we’ve done wrong and think about next season. I think it will be fundamental for the Club. Tomorrow should be the first day towards the ascent. That’s our objective”.

Season

“This isn’t the day to talk about blame. From the viewpoint of my responsibility, and that of the team, it’s clear we did a lot of things wrong. We had an extremely negative start which dragged on throughout the season, and we haven’t known how to deal with it. We can make a thousand analyses. As we saw in today’s game, we’ve had many moments throughout the year in which matches have slipped through our fingers at the last minute. That’s football. When you don’t do things well, you are exposed to this happening in a top-level league”.

Dressing room

“The state of the dressing room is one of sadness and desolation. We know we are the ones responsible for relegation. The Club has been in the First Division for 10 years, but from now on the objective of this team is to move back up. This is day one of the ascent”.

Summary of the season

“It’s the summary of the entire season. We have had so many games that have slipped through the net at the last minute. Valencia, Coruña, today… Things we cannot allow to happen. When a team is in great need, then in the end this happens”.
