Lombán: “With a good result we’ll liberate ourselves”

The Malaguista captain held a press conference two days before #RealSociedadBMálaga. “With the sensations we have, we’re convinced we’re going to play a good match”, he stated.

David Lombán, Málaga CF captain, held a press conference this Thursday in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda.

To kick off, he was asked about the upcoming league fixture against a Real Sociedad B that have claimed a win, four draws and eight defeats at their home ground. “This doesn’t mean anything, this category is so tight. The reserve teams are young and unpredictable. We don’t look at a rival’s stats, we focus on how they play and compete. We must look at ourselves and continue to grow and move forward. With the solid sensations we have, we’re convinced we’re going to play a good match,” he said.

Looking at the #RealSociedadBMálaga clash a little more closely, Lombán said the match will be “dangerous and very misleading. This rival has great technical quality and an attacking gameplay that few teams have in the Second Division. It’s going to be a lot more difficult than what you’d assume by looking at the standings,” he added.

The Blue and White captain has seen improvement in the last few games. “We can see an orderly team, and if we get a good result our confidence will grow and we’ll liberate ourselves, which will help us progress,” he stated.

Lombán visualises “the end of the bad streak,” and is clear that “all teams go through a negative dynamic due to the number of matches and the state of mind. The team’s sensations are to turn the results around as soon as possible so we can boost our confidence,” he said.

He also talked about Natxo González. “Whenever there’s a new coach, they bring their ideas, their philosophy. There’s never any time in football, especially midway through the season. It’s a significant handicap, we have to work at breakneck speed to capture his ideas to be the team he wants as soon as possible,” he went on to add.

Finally, he sent a message to the fans. “We’re in a period of transition, which we want you to be aware of. We are the first ones who want to take a leap forward, and hopefully you’ll soon be enjoying the team as you deserve,” he said.
