517 minutes with a clean sheet
A defensive record, despite this setback for the team in Las Palmas. Since Cristian’s goal in minute 6 of Lugo-Málaga on matchday 1, until Mir’s goal in minute 74 against Las Palmas, the team kept a clean sheet for four games on the bounce, totalling 517 minutes without conceding a goal. A new record for the Club as ‘MCF’ in the Second Division.
Leadership still safe
It always hurts to lose, especially when you get used to winning. However, the ‘cushion’ obtained from winning the first five matches allows Málaga CF to remain at the top of the standings. The team continues in a direct promotion position with a three-point advantage over third place, pending the outcome of this evening’s Deportivo-Granada.
Ontiveros, a stand out player
The player from Marbella continues to grow. His wild and brazen style of football generated several dangerous situations. Vertical and sharp, and also contributing to the defence, the homegrown player displayed a very high level of play that made him stand out.
A consolidated defence
Cifuentes and team captain Ricca on the wings, Luis Hernández and Pau in the middle. The Blue and White defence is recited from memory. The four defenders are the only members of the team who have played all minutes of the competition (540). Their work has helped to make MCF the team who has conceded the fewest goals in the competition, just two out of six games.
