Juanfran Funes named the following starting-11: A. Herrero; Salinas, Recio, J. Berrocal, Rafita; Dani Lorenzo, Dotor, Rafa R., D. Larrubia, Joaquín; Jauregi.
The match began on an even footing. Jauregi had a good chance in the 12th minute following a cross from Joaquín, but David Soria saved his effort. Soon after, Alfonso Herrero kept out attempts from Getafe's Ünal and Iván Azón.
Málaga grew into the game as the minutes went by and enjoyed a good spell of attacking pressure before half-time. Dani Lorenzo and Joaquín both tried their luck in the box, while in minute 43 Rafa Rodríguez forced another save from the home goalkeeper with a shot from the edge of the area. In the closing stages of the first half, Dotor found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review. The teams went into the break level at 0-0.
After the interval, Adrián Niño replaced Jauregi. Getafe stepped up the pressure at the start of the second half, with Alfonso Herrero making two consecutive saves to deny Ramón Terrats. Just past the hour mark, the Blue and White goalkeeper was called into action again to keep out a header from Iván Azón.
In the 66th minute, Málaga made a double change, with Chupe and Pablo Martínez coming on for Joaquín and Dani Lorenzo. Shortly afterwards, Niño tried his luck following an attacking transition, but his effort went over the bar. In minute 73, Ramón replaced Rafa Rodríguez.
As the match entered its final stages, the home side found the breakthrough. A quick transition ended with Satriano setting up Iván Azón, who finished from inside the box to put Getafe ahead (1-0, 84').
The final whistle sounded at the Coliseum with the scoreline reading 1-0. Málaga CF remain on three points after seven matches and will now enter the international break. Their next fixture will be on Friday 9th October against RCD Espanyol at La Rosaleda, kicking off at 21:00.
