Atlético Malagueño defeated Mancha Real by 2-1 to regain the group top spot following a defeat for Vélez. Atlético Málaga lost by 2-0 against Betis, however the Blue and Whites’ players deserved more in the clash with the leaders.
Atlético Malagueñoclaimed the three points against Mancha Real from this match. The Blue and Whites dominated the majority of play, and took the lead in minute 36 thanks to an own goal by the rival. The match seemed an easy ride for Malagueño following the goal, however the visitors scored in the 69th minute. The ‘Malaguistas’ style of play was hampered and despite stepping up the attack, the goals weren’t coming. Just when a draw looked the likely outcome, Mikel Villanueva took advantage of a poor deflection from the Mancha Real keeper in the final minutes to give Manel Ruano’s boys the three points. Malagueño are now back in the lead, as Vélez lost at home against Guadix.
Atlético Málaga couldn’t prevent a defeat against Betis. Manuel Hernádez’s girls played well in Sevilla, generating promising goal opportunities. However in minute 17, Paula put Betis in front with a great goal. The ‘Malaguistas’ went all out in search of an equaliser, but in the second half, minute 47’, it was again Paula who outwitted goalkeeper, Chelsea to secure a 2-0 victory for Betis. It was a harsh punishment for Atlético Málaga who put on a good performance.
