Kilometre 8: Draws…they do exist

Málaga CF obtained the first draw of the season, in A Coruña, on kilometre 8 of the LaLiga 1|2|3 marathon.

These are some of the highlights from last Sunday’s #DéporMálaga held at the Abanca-Riazor stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Same starting line-up for two weeks’ running

Juan Ramón Muñiz selected the same starting-11 from the match against Rayo Majadahonda eight days ago, repeating a line-up for the first time in the 2018/19 season. Munir; Iván, Luis, Pau, Ricca; Juanpi, N’Diaye, Adrián, Ontiveros; Harper and Leschuk were the protagonists.

The importance of the throw-in in attacking play

Some 40% of MCF’s league goals this season (4 out of 10 scored) were born from the powerful arms of Luis Hernández. In A Coruña he generated the 0-1 goal by N’Diaye, who also made the most of the effective resource to score the definitive 1-2 in Lugo. The Luis ‘catapult’ also led to the 1-0 (Leschuk) against Alcorcón and the first goal by Adrián in the 3-0 against Córdoba.

Invictus in Galicia

As MCF, this will be the fourth season the team remains unbeaten in Galicia after winning in Lugo (1-2) and drawing against Dépor (1-1). One season in the First Division (2001/02) drawing in Vigo (0-0) and A Coruña (2-2); and two seasons in the silver division – both of which ended in promotion to the elite – in 98/99 (0-1 in Ourense and 3-3 in Compostela) and 07/08 (0-0 in Ferrol and 1-2 in Vigo) being the historic precedents.

50 matches in promotion positions with Muñiz

Add and continue. The coach from Asturias reaches a round number of consecutive games as Malaguista coach, with the team in direct promotion positions to the First Division. Counting the 42 games in 2007/08 and the 8 so far in this current campaign, he reaches 50 consecutive matches at the top of the table. In addition, as solo leaders accumulating 19 out of a possible 24 points.

Héctor, League debut

The striker from the Canary Islands became the 22nd Málaga CF player to compete in LaLiga 1|2|3 this season. After debuting with a goal from the penalty spot in Almería in the Copa del Rey, Héctor came on in place of Harper in 87’ against Dépor, debuting in the domestic competition. The only 2018/19 signings still awaiting their debut are defender, Lombán and winger, Haksabanovic.
