Pellegrini now has his roundabout

The former Málaga CF coach is happy to be back on the Costa del Sol and inaugurate a roundabout in his name.

The best Málaga in history would not be understood without Manuel Pellegrini. The Chilean coach arrived at Martiricos on 4th November 2010 during a difficult sporting situation. The team was at the bottom of the table on league matchday 10 and, following a period of adapting to the new coach, the Blue and Whites took flight and finished in 11th place with 46 points.

However, if the ‘engineer’ is remembered for something it’s the 4th place and best classification in history for Málaga in the 2011/12 season. And, of course, for the UEFA Champions League debut at La Rosaleda. The Boquerón team, with Manuel Pellegrini at the helm, reached the quarter-finals and played against iconic teams such as AC Milan, FC Porto and Borussia Dortmund.

“They were three wonderful years” affirmed the Chilean former coach, who said he tries to watch all the Málaga games he can. In addition, he wishes the team every success for this season. “I’m delighted the team is striving to return to LaLiga, which is where it belongs, for the fans and for the city”, he stated.

This Tuesday, Málaga City Hall named a roundabout after Manuel Pellegrini located near to the stadium where he managed to make history. Therefore, the link between the city of Málaga and the Chilean coach will forever feature on the map.
