The rain poured down in the run-up to Málaga-Tenerife… until kick-off. Ontiveros and Blanco Leschuk connected again, and the points stayed at home.
Here are a few highlights from Málaga CF’s latest LaLiga 1|2|3 win.
Ontiveros-Blanco Leschuk
‘Onti’ sets it up and Gustavo converts. It happened against Alcorcón and it happened again against Tenerife. The result, 1-0 and the three points stayed at Martiricos. Two assists from the Marbella-born winger and two goals from the Argentine striker are worth half of the accumulated points. Lethal.
Kieszek’s debut
The latest summer signing debuted in goal with a solvent performance. The Polish keeper didn’t have to do much work, although the right goalpost gave him a hand during the rival’s clearest opportunity. He showed security and a good foot on the exit with the ball from the back.
The beauty of 1-0
The third identical winning result on the bounce. The stamp is clear. Sobriety in defence and maximising resources on the attack. A solid block that has been moulded by Muñiz since the preseason in record time, and an undeniable consequence: effectiveness and immediate results.
Notable absences? Team
Without internationals Munir and N’Diaye, plus the absences of non-physically fit Pacheco and Renato, up to four players from the second team appeared in the starting line-up. The team still shone, with a special mention for ‘debutante’ Medhi Lacen’s work in midfield.
4, the number of the day
The fourth kilometre of the Blue and Whites’ Second Division marathon and the fourth consecutive victory. After four matches the team is in a direct promotion position, on a date when the lads achieved the 400th official win as MCF in official competition since 1994.
