Kameni: “We need to play a good match in front of our fans”

Málaga CF’s Cameroonian-born goalkeeper, Carlos Kameni held a press conference this Wednesday afternoon at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium.

MCF-Betis

“This is a very important match, not just because Betis are coming, but because we need to win.  We need to play a good match in front of our fans, so we’ll start as strong as we can in order to try and win.  We’re currently on a good line of work, but we’re lacking in accuracy.  On Saturday we’ll need to do more to win the game.  We make every effort to play at the same level in home and away matches, but we recognise the fact that the fans really help us at our home ground.  However, our aim is to play at a consistently high level and win.”

The fans are key

“Last season we started very well, and we wanted this season to be the same or better.  I want to reassure the fans that we’re working as hard as we can, and always go out there determined to enjoy the match and claim the three points in play every time.  I ask that they continue to support us, as it’s extremely important to the team; it’s no coincidence that they’re known as the ‘12th’ player.  Together we can begin a positive streak.  I’m certain that with our fans’ unconditional support, we’ll have a good season.”

Return to the Cameroon national team

“It’s been a year since I was called-up to join my national team.  I’m always available to the coach, particularly for my country, it’s an honour to defend those colours.  I don’t know if I’ll have a different role or not, but I’ll go with the same enthusiasm I have each day, to try and help my teammates and defend my colours.”

Personal confidence

“I’m really well, I think everything is about mental attitude.  I have a great deal of confidence in what I do, and this confidence comes from the coach, this keeps me motivated to work hard.  The reward is to be called-up by your country.  I believe that working hard always reaps rewards, and this is conveyed on the team as well.  Looking at the work we’re doing, I’m sure we’ll be rewarded and win many games.”
