Juvenil DH are CHAMPIONS!

The MCF Academy side has won the Group IV División de Honor title, and will return to defend their Copa de Campeones crown.

The Juvenil A team were proclaimed Group IV División de Honor juvenil champions on a heart-stopping day.

Málaga CF and Sevilla FC arrived at the last match of the regular season tied on points (75), with goal average going in the Blue and Whites’ favour. The Malaguistas were up against Real Betis, and the Sevillistas were playing Córdoba CF. This brought more excitement as third place was also in play between Bétis and Córdoba. This position grants qualification to the Copa del Rey of the category.

Málaga CF lost by four goals to one against Betis, and Sevilla FC lost by 2-1 to Córdoba CF, meaning the top of the table didn’t change and the Blue and Whites claimed the title. Winning this championship means participation in the Copa de Campeones for the 6th time, 4th consecutive, and 1st time defending the crown.

The MCF Academy has two national juvenil trophies. The first, won in 2002/03 in the Club’s debut in the tournament; and the second was last season, 2015/16. Dely Valdés’ boys will have the opportunity this year to defend their title for the first time in the Club’s history, as in 2003/04, they weren’t able to qualify.

Including this one, Málaga CF has reached six participations in the biggest national juvenil competition since the format was introduced in 1998/99, the last four consecutively.
