Strange situations

“The match had a series of somewhat strange anecdotes.  We went behind on the scoreboard early on, which wasn’t expected, as Alavés hadn’t been accurate in front of goal.  In addition, we had to overcome Llorente’s injury, adding to the problems with central defenders we already have.  The team didn’t lose faith at any point, and made a huge effort to, firstly equalise, then secondly, go for victory.  It wasn’t to be, but we go home with the reward of a draw.”

Restructuring due to absences

“We’ve had a number of players with injuries, who had to stay in Málaga.  Generally speaking we were satisfied with how things turned out, but the problem arose when we conceded an early goal, meaning everything we’d prepared for had now altered.  Adding to this Diego’s injury, which meant we had to make further tweaks.”
