The Blue and White coach analysed the duel with Real Oviedo in the Carlos Tartiere press room: “We played a very good match”.
José Alberto López offered the traditional press conference following Sunday’s tough defeat on LaLiga SmartBank matchday 13: “From Borja’s goal we played a great match. I’m happy with the game we played, with the feeling that as it progressed, we were closer to victory. This is football, to win here, in this division, you need to be strong in both areas. In addition, with the Antoñín situation, we lacked a bit of good luck, it should have gone in. In the end, it’s the areas the determine the category,” the coach explained.
He was later questioned about the unfortunate result: “I think we played a very good match, and we were closer to winning than losing. I once again say that this is the Second Division and strength is what makes the balance tip one way or the other, that’s where we need to improve. We can’t let a player enter our area and score in the 93rd minute, and with the chances we generate on the counter-attack we need to kill the rivals,” he commented.
Lastly, the coach was asked about Kevin, who was substituted in the second half: “It’s tough, a player that is being tackled in every game finds it hard to recover. In the Spanish national team, there are some great possession players, but we don’t have dribblers, and in the end we’re going to run out of them. We need to protect players a little with these characteristics.”
