José Alberto: "We are disappointed, hurt and upset"

The Malaguista coach held a press conference after #MálagaLeganés. “I understand the fans’ anger; with hard work we’ll get back to being a good Málaga,” he said.

Malaguista coach, José Alberto López held a press conference following #MálagaLeganés.

Firstly, he analysed the match: “We were up against a rival who were better than us. They took the lead, and we weren’t comfortable. In the first 25 minutes they were better, then we matched them. In the second half, when we were the better side and after the double substitution to attempt to equalise, came the second goal that sealed the match.”

In regard to the discomfort in the stands, he commented that he understands “the anger of the fans”, acknowledging that the team is “in a bad dynamic and has not performed at the level that we are used to.” In addition, José Alberto said that “the absences are affecting us, which you can see during this part of the season.”

During the Christmas break, he hopes to “recover several important players, to give us alternatives that we don’t have now,” as well as sending an optimistic message for the future: “We have a good team, with hard work we’ll get back to being a good Málaga.”

Lastly, José Alberto ended the press conference by saying he feels “very supported by the entire Club,” while acknowledging that they are “disappointed, hurt and upset because we wanted to end the year well; the fans deserved it.”
