José Alberto: “The team did an impeccable job”

The Malaguista coach said a few words after #MálagaLugo. “This is our fifth match without defeat; we have a very committed team, the fans are enjoying watching them play and this is the path to follow,” he said.

The Málaga CF coach held a press conference at the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda following tonight’s victory against CD Lugo.

He kicked-off by analysing the match: “We played a very good game overall, but you suffer until the end unless you seal the victory. It’s taking a lot to win, this division is so tight. The team did an impeccable job, the triumph is based on the collective and the solidarity they show each day.”

The Malaguista coach positively values the good dynamic: “This is our fifth match without defeat, with two victories and three draws. The team continues to compete, grow, it is alive. This week there have been 17 players who have been in the starting line-ups, everyone is very involved and they’re showing it. We have a very committed team, the fans are enjoying watching them play and this is the path to follow. There’s room for improvement, we must keep competing, demanding and improving.”

After three matches in seven days the coach said “the lads are exhausted. It’s been such a demanding week, as has this match. The rival steals the ball in the final stretch, and the tension remains with such a narrow lead. We interpreted the game very well.” For José Alberto, “Sekou is the bad news of the day. He noticed some muscular discomfort, we don’t know the extent of the injury.” In the face of adversity, he said “the most important thing is that each player who goes out there gives their all and the team doesn’t notice the absences. That’s crucial for us.”

Lastly, the coach expressed his happiness for Genaro, who scored the Malaguista goal: “I’m delighted for the goal, he deserves it, he’s been close in recent games. Today, luckily, he scored and earned us three points.”
