Javi Ramos: “The point isn’t enough, but we still have options”

The Blue and White coach said after #AldaiaMálaga: “We need to win the final two games, that’s what we’re focusing on”, he stated.

Match review

“We’ve seen two Málaga teams. The one we don’t want, with lapses in concentration and a lack of intensity at the start of the first half that costs us two goals. Then we saw the Málaga we do want, with the girls playing good football, giving their all for every ball, intense and never giving up. After coming back from 2-0 down, the point could be seen as a good one, but there was the feeling we could have gone the whole way and claimed all three. The final 10 minutes of play was focused around Aldaia’s goal, we had three or four chances to go in front. These players cannot be blamed for anything. Although at the start they lacked concentration on the responsibility of the game, they rebuilt themselves and went level after being 2-0 down. The girls gave everything, and we couldn’t ask for more. Mistakes were made, unfortunately we’re making some errors in defence that are costing us goals, which must be rectified. In terms of attitude, soul, dedication and sacrifice, they were 10 out of 10. I’ve never been prouder of them”.

Mistakes

“We suffered lapses in concentration. Their two goals stemmed from a throw-in and a corner kick and we lacked intensity. We weren’t in the game for the first 15 minutes and didn’t dispute the ball well. The girls weren’t in control of the game or off-the-ball play. We managed to come back, react well and score the 2-1. In the second half we saw the other Málaga, attempting to make plays and approach the area. The minute we were more intense with the ball, we were superior. It was a shame we had to wait until we were 2-0 down to do it. Things are complicated, there are two games left but we still have options and will fight until the end”.

One point

“The point allows us to have options. We wanted all three points. We ended the game with every player on the attack. We were determined to win, and it looked as though we could have as we were the superior side. As soon as the team showed the necessary intensity without the ball, then with the ball we were a good team and generated opportunities. The two goals came from two very good plays we made. In the final 10 minutes we thought we could have done it. We approached the area, but the ball just didn’t go in. The three points would have been great. The point isn’t enough, but we still have options. We need to win the final two games, that’s what we’re focusing on. We’ll prepare for the clash with Levante, try to win at home and then go to Femarguín for a win to stay in the category. We congratulated the girls on how they performed in the second half. We have to pick ourselves up, go all out in these two matches and defend Málaga, whatever happens”.
