Javi Gracia: “We scored, but the return leg is wide open”
Málaga Club de Fútbol coach, Javi Gracia held a press conference at the Riazor stadium following tonight’s 1-1 draw against Deportivo de la Coruña in the first leg match of the Copa del Rey knockout round.
The ‘Malaguista’ manager analyses the 1-1 draw at the Riazor stadium: “I said it was important to score an away goal, but I wanted to go a step further towards qualifying to the next round. The return leg is now wide open, but we’re still faced with the same difficulty. We’ll try and be as strong as possible at our home ground. We performed well tonight, but we could have improved on the counter-attack. Our defence was solid, which we’re pleased with, although there are still factors we need to work on.”
Gracia says the forthcoming League match will be different: “We’ll do our best to win the League game, although we’re aware it’ll be tough. It’s important that we gain points, despite the fact that playing at the Riazor isn’t easy.”
