Javi Gracia: “This team has no problems with motivation”
Blue and Whites’ coach, Javi Gracia held a press conference at La Rosaleda ahead of Granada-Málaga. “We don’t need an incentive to play better”.
Winning in Granada, a challenge
“Adverse statistics serve to motivate more, so we’ll see if we’re capable of breaking this streak, as I don’t think we’ve ever beaten them in the First Division. There’s always a first time for everything, so I hope it’s in tomorrow’s match.”
Caution and ambition
“I don’t know how many points we are from salvation,I hope we get more than 40, but I don’t want to rely on anyone or anything. We’ll continue on our path and gain as many points as we can in these seven games, not just focus on a minimal objective. We want to be ambitious, but we’re concentrating now on the three points in play in Granada”
High motivation
“I prefer to focus on each week at a time, and there is no motivation problem with this team. The players don’t need extra financial or qualifying incentives in order to perform better. I think we’re capable of giving our all, regardless of the circumstances that may occur.”
Granada, organised rival
“We’re up against a very organised rival, since José (González) took over, in these six matches they’ve been able to gain nine points. They are a well-structured team in the 4-4-2, and I don’t think it’ll be an excessively open game. We must manage our attacking display very well and stay aware of their powerful physical transitions upfront and on the wings. They are a fairly restrained team and don’t give much away to opponents.”
Players’ suitable physical level
“I see them performing well, and these are not just feelings, they are backed up by statistics in regard to the physical aspect. We run more, and play at a higher intensity than rivals; and compared to other teams in other seasons, this is a good time for us. Physically, the data tells us that. We need to try and translate this into good play and good results, which is important to help us to win games.”
