Javi Gracia: “The result is secondary; we need to keep on improving”
The Málaga Club de Fútbol coach analyses the first match of the pre-season as part of the LFP World Challenge in Australia. The Navarran-born coach remains cautious following today’s victory.
Firstly, Javi Gracia talks about Málaga Club de Fútbol’s 1-5 win over Adelaide United FC: “At this time, the result is secondary in games such as this. What is important, above all else, is that we continue to improve and play well, however we’re very pleased with our performance. We enjoyed a great match against a great team.”
The Blue and Whites’ coach believes the players need to refine their gameplay: “There are certain details about our style of play that we need to better. It’s important that we continue to recognise our flaws and improve as much as we can. There are still a lot of things we need to correct.”
Gracia highlights the good performance by the entire team, as well as captain Duda in the role of attacking midfielder: “He’s played numerous times in this position, and always performs well in midfield, with accurate passing and good shots. For me his best position I think is as an attacking midfielder, but he is capable of playing in other positions on the pitch when necessary.”
The ‘Malaguista’ manager comments on the Australian rival’s performance and the tour so far: “I think Adelaide United FC are a great team, who work hard and are extremely organised. I’m sure we didn’t see their best work today, as we did maintain a solid defence throughout. They were a strong rival. We had no idea how many people would come and watch the game, but with such a great atmosphere you forget about the long journey and enjoy the moment.”
