Javi Gracia: “The Copa del Rey is a new competition that brings a breath of fresh air”

‘Malaguista’ coach, Javi Gracia held a press conference this morning at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium’s press room: “We’re facing a different rival, who are very tactically disciplined,” comments the Navarra-born manager about Mirandés.

Mirandés

“Like everything at the start, we’re really looking forward to kicking off this competition.  We will try and do our best to compete well and enjoy what is an attractive and exciting tournament.  I hope we’ll go far.  We’re facing a different rival; teams coached by Terrazas are characterised as being very tactically disciplined with a clear system of play.  We’re aware of this so will be adjusting certain details of our game in order do our best, regardless of the rivals.”

Cup competition

“We have the same to win or lose as our opponent.  It has come at the right time as a new competition brings a breath of fresh air.  Stability comes from good results, nothing more.  I don’t think I need to be distracted by other things at the moment, I must just focus on doing my job well.”

Long season

“There’s never an easy season.  As the year goes on, many things happen, and in order for me to do my job well, I need to stay focused on me and what I need to do, which is to get the best performance out of the team.  What I must do is win games and gain points as soon as possible.”

New names in the line-up

“It’s wonderful for me to see my players in action who don’t usually get much chance.  With regards to Aarón, he’s been performing brilliantly and I think now’s a great time for him to experience a match with the first team.”

Two matches in a week

“I look on it with excitement and positivity, hopeful of achieving a good result in order to qualify to the next round, and in our next League match to clinch victory to allow us to relax a little.  The next match will always be the most important.  We’re prepared for the intense games ahead, many of which are away from home.  It’ll be extremely positive to win, and also score goals which always has that added value in the Cup competition.”
