Javi Gracia: “I give our performance this season a very high mark”
The coach says: “I’d like the last match to be a celebration and see the fans enjoy a victory.” Gracia is proud of “how we coped during the bad times.”
United during the bad times
“If I have to give importance to someone in achieving our objective set for this season, or the fact we are playing for eighth or a mid-table position in the final game, it is my players. It’s down to them, their game play and turning a very delicate situation around. If there’s something I’m very proud of this season, it’s how we coped during the bad times, as in the good times, everyone’s good. During the bad times there are those who take it worse than others, and some who always row in the same direction. I can boast that the team all pulled together during the bad times.”
Las Palmas
“It’s certainly true that at times certain players and their movements, can, if you let them, cause trouble. However, we can also do some damage on this slower counter-attack, as they like to dominate possession, touch and ripen their attack. We mustn’t drive ourselves crazy, so let’s see who wins in that situation and dominates approaches to the two areas.”
Ending with a win
“I want to be very ambitious in the last match, and end the season in a positive way, with victory and eighth place. However, above and beyond, I think the most important factor is to try and end the season how it deserves, and if we can claim eighth place, then even better. We’ve worked incredibly hard this year and I’d like the last match to be a celebration and the fans to enjoy it. There’s no better way of doing that than with a win.”
Mark of the season
“I give our performance this season a very high mark.”
