Iván Alejo: “The fans are going to be right behind us”

The Málaga CF winger passed through the Ciudad de Málaga press room following training to talk about the Blue and Whites. “We needed the three points but are now only thinking about Sporting. We need to focus on each match at a time”.

#NàsticMálaga

“They were three very important points. Within the dressing room we knew we had to win regardless, as if not, we would have moved away from where we want to be. The team competed very well, we needed to win whatever it took, which is what we did”.

Positivity

“We all have to be very positive, both the fans and the Club, as the team has stayed up throughout the season, and has been extremely consistent. I believe this is the most important point of the season and we’re all pumped up following the win against Nàstic. Now we need to beat Sporting”.

Match by match

“This week, thank goodness, we were able to move closer to the teams above us, but within the dressing room we focus on each match at a time, which, although sounds like a cliché, is true. This is the only way we’ll achieve the objective”.

La Rosaleda

“We must be strong at home. La Rosaleda is a ground that imposes on all rivals. The team is in a very good dynamic and the three points have come at a good time to allow us to change our mindset. The victory in Tarragona, which is a difficult ground, where you’re playing for your life, at a high intensity, was very important. Now at home we’re determined to win the three points”.

Fans

“After the win in Tarragona, during which the fans helped us a great deal, it’s time for us to give back to them and not them to us as we’ve previously requested. I’m certain the fans are going to be right behind us as they’re aware of what we’re playing for, which means so much to us, the Club and the city. Without even asking them, they’ll make La Rosaleda like a pressure cooker”.

#MálagaSporting

“At the beginning of the season, everyone expected Sporting to be up at the top, but for various reasons, it’s not gone so well. With the change of coach, they’ve improved, they’ve enjoyed four wins on the bounce and a victory in the derby, which is very important to them. However, we’re playing at home, at La Rosaleda, and we need to win so that the teams above us don’t escape us”.
