Iturra, MVP of #MálagaRealSociedad

The Blue and Whites’ midfielder was one of the most prominent players in the victory against the Basque Country rival at La Rosaleda: “I try to do the best I can, whether things go right or wrong” he affirmed.

Statements to MCFTV | Manuel Iturra

Strange victory

“It feels very odd, but we’ve been trying all season. Today we had the fortune of netting the first goal from the rebound, and we continued and pushed hard to win the match and end in the best form possible”.

Control of play

“We took the lead, then we retreated effectively and tried to go out on the counter-attack. We scored a second goal which affected the rival somewhat. Subsequently, despite not having the ball, we had control of the match as the opponent didn’t have any ideas to generate clear goal opportunities”.

Difficult climate

“It’s very tough, as we knew it would be, but if there is one thing to note, it’s that some players may not have wanted to play this match, yet the truth is everyone wanted to. Although many came from the burden of playing two games in a row, this one being the third, they were intent on standing up and saying ‘here I am and I’m responsible for these circumstances’. I’m very proud of this group of people with whom I share the dressing room”.

Personal commitment

“It’s what I can offer, I try to do the best I can, whether things go right or wrong, I give my all. I’m happy as the people have treated me well, which I’m very grateful for. I’ve always said, when the fans are behind you it makes you play ‘over and above’ your level. That shows, and I feel it a great deal”.

Message to fans

“We’ll try to finish the season in the best possible way and defend this shield to the death. We’ll aim to score the highest number of points we can, we we’re professionals. We’ll continue working very seriously and defending this jersey, as it’s the minimum the fans deserve”.
