"It’s satisfying that the players see their efforts rewarded"

Málaga CF manager José González appeared in the press room at the end of #MálagaVillarreal: "The excitement’s not lost".

Victory

"The sense is that there are many ways to win. Deserving it as much as we did today, satisfies you even more. Above all, because the players see their efforts rewarded. Many times we have said that we deserved more and we did not get the victory due to small details. Today, I think we have played a very complete game. We’ve struggled, and that’s normal, but if there had been a draw today, it would have been very unfair. "

Excitement

"I've seen players looking at the table. The excitement’s not lost. There is no doubt that there's been disappointment because we hadn’t been winning, but in this case, we saw the team really compete and we were truly alive throughout the whole match. Athletic, Celta and Las Palmas, they yelled at us. They showed that there was a team that competed and that did things right. No goals were managed and that is the problem we've had. We are trying to improve that. Today, better football has been played. More opportunities have been generated. Let's see if we keep growing. We deserved a lot more.”

Next match

"I already have Dépor in mind. A decisive match for them and for us too. I think Dépor has to be worried. Anyone who sees our previous matches knows that there we’re a rival that can complicate things, that makes things right and that can get our opponents an adverse result. We are not a standard bottom-of-the-table club, despite having the score we have. Anyone who sees our table position might think that this team is a disaster. I think we have not been ‘that’ team, only on the day against Leganés. "

Competing

"We compete well and we are a difficult team to beat and to win against. We have always come across the same stumbling block, which is the lack of getting the win on the day. We need to finish, get closer to the goal, and take advantage more of all the chances we have. And on this, we’ll continue working. This victory gives me pride in the players, so they can enjoy their profession more. We had minutes in the first half in which the players were really dominating the pitch. They deserve it one hundred per cent. Today they have to be satisfied with the victory, not only because of their work, because their work has often been very good ".

Deportivo de La Coruña

"For us, all the games are important. We're going there with the intention of winning, we've always done that. In Vigo, we hit the post in the 90th minute, which set the match. The team has to go all out to win and that is the intention. The idea is always the same, going out to win.”
