“It’s a painful time, but we want to win”

Málaga CF defender, Ignasi Miquel held a press conference at the end of Wednesday morning’s training session: “We must compete and score all the points we can”.

Scoring points

“The mood, particularly after Levante, was as everyone expected, very bad. We are all disappointed, but if you don’t get the results and earn points, then sooner or later you’ll find yourself in this position. However, it arrived earlier than it should. We didn’t claim sufficient points at crucial moments in order to keep up the fight. Last Sunday, with everything against us, and the fans angry with the team – which is normal and understandable – we gained a good result against a side who had come from a good run. Winning that game shows how much we want to continue fighting for the remainder of the season. We’re going to try and score points in the remaining four matches”.

Compete until the end

“It’s a painful time. Everyone wants to win, overcome, and not be at the bottom of the standings. We’ve been like this for a while now. We know Las Palmas are also going through a bad time now, having gone down after a 0-4 defeat by Alavés. In our upcoming games we need to show that this team will continue to compete until the end and try and score all the points we can”.

Future

“I have a contract with Málaga CF and that’s what I know. I don’t want to think about anything else. Focusing on what may happen next is the wrong thing to do. I want to play the remaining four games. I’m still a Málaga player and I am not thinking about anything else”.

#RealBetisMálaga

“A team that reaches the end of the season with these sensations… We saw at the beginning they suffered many goals and many counters, but now we can see the quality they have and their way of playing. They are fighting and are practically in the Europa League.  We know we’re visiting a very tough ground, with fans who will be hostile towards us, given the rivalry between the teams. We’ll have to work hard if we can to create problems for them”.
