A historic feat was achieved by Málaga CF Femenino Infantil on Saturday. Ortiz and Burgos’ players beat Puerto de la Torre (1-5) in their last match in Group 4 of the Cuarta Andaluza Masculina division to be proclaimed champions. The first time in Andalucía that a women's team has won a league made up of male teams.
The Blue and Whites were leaders on matchday 30, the final league fixture, with 71 points, two above Malaka 'C', the only follower who could catch them up. As such, the Malaguistas were relying on themselves to win the championship, as last week they were stopped in their tracks by a goal from San Estanislao 'B' in stoppage time.
Málaga CF’s starting-11 at the Ángel Martos saw Ainhoa in goal; Lorena, Sara, Ainara, Noa in defence; Daniela on the pivot, with Lucía Alarcón and Samara inside; Judith and Dayana on the wings; and Adri upfront.
Following a start with opportunities for both teams, Ortiz and Burgos’ team began to control the situation. Between minutes 20 and 30 they were on course for the win with goals from Dayana, Samara and Esther. After the first 40 minutes the girls were 0-3 up.
In the second half, the Malaguistas increased their lead with a penalty converted by Dayana to make it 0-4. Raúl scored the local goal shortly afterwards, whilst Dayana completed her hattrick to score the team’s fifth goal, again from the 11-metre mark, in the 61st minute.
For the remainder of the match there was little action inside the areas as the girls waited for the full-time whistle to celebrate with the fans a well-deserved and hard-fought league victory throughout the season.
With the league won this Saturday by the Infantil, an unforgettable 2021/22 season comes to an end for Málaga CF Feminino, after winning the championship with the first team, reserve team and the cadetes.
