Press conference

“I’m expecting a good Eibar, but I expect more from my team”

Javi Jiménez held a press conference at the José Burgos Quintana in Coín this Tuesday, following the ‘Pulmón Malaguista’ event organised by the MCF Foundation.

The left-back analysed the positivity with Guede at the helm of the team. “Since the new coach arrived, we’ve tried to adopt the ideas he wants as soon as possible, and do what he asks of us. We’ve had good and bad streaks, but the team is always willing to improve,” he said.

“We won three points in Butarque which gives us strength to face this Saturday’s game against the leader. You can see a very intense team, that works hard and tries to take on the habits that the coach asks of us to get to the weekend in the best way possible,” added the Blue and White number ‘3’.

Javi considers that “we’ve done absolutely nothing” in relation to the victory in Leganés. “We won a game and the distance is still the same. What we’re trying to do is not focus on the standings, do our best to score points and do our job at the weekend,” he said.

In regard to the loyal Malaguista fans, he commented: “They’ve been supporting us from the outset. We understand that we have to give to the fans and this weekend we hope they come to support us. I think the match is at a good time and I’ve no doubt the team will do everything to earn the three points.”

Finally, he said about the upcoming league rival: “I’m expecting a good Eibar, with very good players, but I expect more from my team and my players.”
