Simply exciting. The farewell to the first season for Málaga Genuine was divided into two different parts, both full of the Blue and White feeling. In the early afternoon, at La Rosaleda stadium, players and the coaching team gathered together on the pitch at Martiricos with the LaLiga Genuine Santander 18/19 trophy. Club adviser, Abdullah Ben Barek, didn’t miss out showing his love for the team.

Then, the VIP area of the Tribuna section of the stadium served as the stage for the MCF Foundation to recognise the importance and value of an incredible year for Málaga Genuine. A Blue and White foundation coordinated by Lucas Rodríguez, Basti as head of the Social Department, Domingo Muñoz in charge of the Historical Department, and Cristina Cano, the fundamental link to the best team in the history of the Club, as it was called in the memorable presentation.

There was institutional representation during the 2018/19 season farewell ceremony, with presence from the Diputación Provincial de Málaga together with sponsors VIPESA and Obra Social ‘la Caixa’, as well as numerous family members of the Málaga Genuine players, who cheered each one of the interventions of those present with special t-shirts bearing the slogan ‘Málaga CF Genuine. La humildad te hace grande’ (‘Humility makes you great’). The crowd sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Basti a day in advance, whilst an emotional Ben Barek exclaimed “I’ve never seen anything like this before”.

After enjoying a snack in the stadium, the Fundación MCF EDI travelled by bus to the city centre as the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre led the reception of the team that was welcomed by a multitude of fans with champion honours at the entrance to Málaga Town Hall. Winning the ‘compañerismo’ group title in LaLiga Genuine was the jewel in the crown for the true champions who make us feel proud. Viva Málaga Genuine!
