Home draw adds another point to the pot (1-1)

All square for Málaga CF against Real Zaragoza on league matchday 10. A great goal from Brandon put the Blue and Whites in the lead, but Narváez took the visitors level just before half time.

LaLiga SmartBank returned to La Rosaleda on a great Saturday night for football. Summer-like temperatures meant there was no need for coats tonight for the fans in the stands at La Rosaleda on this 16th October.

In terms of the match, both teams stepped on to the pitch with the clear intention of ruling play. The Malaguistas and Zaragocistas struggled to gain control of the ball and move the game to the opposing goal. Goalkeeper Dani Martín made a superb save from a close-range shot in 14’. The powerful attempt was repelled with reflexes and confidence by the keeper to the astonishment of the more than 15,000 fans who were cheering the lads on from the stands.

Following several electric actions, the locals managed to take the lead. Brandon, with immense skill, converted an extraordinary cross from Víctor Gómez from the right (1-0, 28’).

The goal was the reward for the Blue and Whites’ hard work on the attack, but the visitors managed to equalise just before half time. Narváez threw a jug of cold water on the fervent La Rosaleda in 44’ (1-1). The Malaguistas tried to respond in the next action, Genaro connected with a powerful Javi Jiménez cross from the left wing, but the keeper was able to deflect the attempt. At half time the scoreboard remained level at 1-1.

In the second half, José Alberto López’s men went out with the aim of regaining their lead.

Málaga tried time and again, bringing on more attacking options (Sekou Gassama, Jairo and Antoñín) from the bench to increase their presence in the area.

Despite several Malaguista arrivals, with a goal looking likely in the closing stages, the scoreboard stayed the same. Málaga CF earned another point – the second consecutive draw – to remain undefeated at Martiricos and accumulate three matches on the bounce without a loss. With barely any time to rest, the lads are in action again on Tuesday, away to Huesca on matchday 11 of LaLiga SmartBank.
