History repeating for Femenino; three points from Arguineguín (0-1)

Málaga CF Femenino claimed three points against CD Femarguín SPAR Gran Canaria in an incredibly close game, with Adriana breaking the deadlock in 92’.

Victory for Málaga CF Femenino by 0-1 against CD Femarguín SPAR Gran Canaria, a ground with good memories for the Malagueñas. Adriana scored for the Blue and Whites in 92’ and the team heads into the Christmas break with another three points.

The match was very even during the initial stages of play. Rough and with few options for both the locals and the visitors. In minute 3, María Ruiz attempted to mislead goalkeeper, Aco, without success. Femarguín’s high pressure allowed them to play in Málaga’s area, but the Blue and White defence impeded any attempts from the locals without any problems. From 22’, José Herrera’s girls began to dominate play more. More comfortable on the pitch at Arguineguín, the team started to make regular arrivals to the local goal. In 36’ there was a double chance for Arantxa and Postigo – wearing the captain’s armband – to open the scoring, but the intervention from Aco was masterful for the locals. Just before half-time, Adriana tried her luck with a shot at goal that was stopped by the keeper. With no time for more, the match reached 45’ all square on the scoreboard (0-0).

Femarguín got off to a strong start in the second half. They tried to outwit a primordial Noelia Gil who prevented Zaira’s attempts in a superb way. Following the push from the home side, Málaga dominated the second half. Arantxa moved freely through the local area but kept coming up against Aco. María Ruiz had the clearest opportunity in 58’. She received a cross from Clo yet her shot at the target grazed the crossbar. Carol Glez., Ayano and Edna came on in place of Farfán, Arantxa and Ornella respectively. Although Málaga didn’t give up on their attempts to open the scoring, the Japanese player wasn’t accurate with her goal attempts. The match entered the final stages with the Malagueñas in control, ending with Adriana scoring the winner for the Blue and Whites who take home the three points.
