Guede: “Self-respect is non-negotiable”

The Málaga CF coach held his last pre-match press conference of the season: “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; I came to give my all, not to ask,” he said on the eve of #LugoMálaga.

“We need to go to Lugo to win. If we do that, we have the possibility of moving up two places. For me this is not insignificant. We always want to win. The match was prepared for that. Then from Saturday at 11pm we’ll start to think about next season,” Guede started out by saying.

The Argentinean is clear about the key to winning in Galicia. “There’s something that’s non-negotiable, and that’s self-respect. This cannot be negotiated. This match will be as it should be. Going all out to win the three points and compete in the best way we can. I have no doubt that will be the case. I expect a super aggressive Málaga that will carry out the match plan to win,” he affirmed.

In regard to next season and his work, he commented: “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; I came to give my all, not to ask. I agree with the idea and the objective we want to achieve. I’m a coach. Where I can help I will, I’m very clear about that. I’m not getting involved in anything, only what happens on the pitch. I’ll adapt to what the club can.”

In a personal and professional capacity, the Argentinean believes he has a lot to offer. “Professionally, in these eight matches I didn’t have time. I want to start being myself. Up to now there hasn’t been any time for anything. From a personal aspect, it was a really intense experience, one of the heaviest I’ve been through. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions, but we fulfilled the objective,” he said.

Finally, Pablo Guede again talks about Lugo. “What do I expect? The best. We’re going with what we have. We must compete as well as we can, otherwise we’ll have a tough time. They have a very clear way of playing, it’s very difficult to counter in their field. That is why self-respect is important,” he concluded.
