Guede: “Nobody said it would be easy”

The Malaguista coach analysed the duel against Real Oviedo that ended all square: “We matched the level of a good team but lacked finesse on the attack to resolve the situations.”

The Malaguista coach appeared before the media in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room. He started off by analysing the match: “We could have done a little more on the attack. It was a typical Second Division game, we had to match the intensity and balance ourselves in defence. The midfield duels were well controlled, but we needed to do more damage on the attack. We earned a good point against a team that’s had a good run, and we need to continue on,” he explained.

For his second question, he was asked about Víctor Olmo’s debut: “He played for a reason. He’s been performing very well with the reserve team and has been training with us. Today he proved it. He played a great game during his debut, it wasn’t easy, but he was up to the task and we have to keep it up,” the coach said.

“Nobody said it would be easy. I’m very clear, we have to take each match at a time. Move forward and never give up. We need to go to Tenerife and really push. We need to play the games, we knew it wouldn’t be easy. We must move forward,” the coach went on to add.

He went on to talk about the complexity of the rival: “Explaining to people what this match was like is tough. We played a good game, the one we needed to play against this rival, as they are highly intense. We matched the level of a good team but lacked finesse on the attack to resolve the situations. We didn’t have that final pass, or a good cross as it was always two against one on the wing. This is what Oviedo do, they’re a good team,” he commented.

Lastly, he stressed that the situation is still in the team’s hands: “It’s about everything, mentally and from a football point of view. If we had played with our hearts in the last few minutes, we would have lost this game. There are three matches remaining, we’re relying on ourselves, and we have to keep working. Nobody said it was going to be easy. I am calm and super confident. There are nine points left in play, onwards and upwards,” he concluded.
