Gracia: “We didn’t do enough to qualify”

The Blue and Whites’ coach analyses the Cup defeat by Mirandés in the return leg at La Rosaleda: “At times we performed well, but it wasn’t enough.”

Mirandés, deserved winner

“I must congratulate Mirandés, as I think they deserve to go through to the next round.  We didn’t show any superiority over the rival, although at times we performed well, but it wasn’t enough to say that we deserved more.  It was hopeful at the start, we arrived at the goal area and generated chances, but they never materialised and little by little the team declined.”

Return of Camacho

“We substituted Camacho in the second half knowing how important he is to the team.  That’s precisely why I did it, as we want him to continue to be important for the remainder of the season, so I thought it best to bring him off.”

Focus on LaLiga

“It’s right that we study this match to see what we did wrong and focus on the many aspects we need to improve on.  We must now concentrate on the League competition, in which we took an important step last weekend, so we need to continue along these lines in the forthcoming LaLiga games.”

Committed squad

“I have no doubt as to the commitment shown every day by my players, but it’s fair to say that today we weren’t capable of showing or transmitting it.”

Next rival: Atlético de Madrid

“I think we must be protagonists of something better in order to perform well on the pitch.  This will be a special match where the fans will want to see their team compete well and achieve a positive result, which is our main intention.  Last season the match against Atlético de Madrid was very intense, so we’re looking forward to playing the co-leaders, giving all we’ve got and trying to win the match.”

Pick ourselves up

“These situations are making us stronger every day.  In order to pick ourselves up after every hit we need to be strong, more consistent, more hard-working and channel this strength to overcome such times.  I believe we’re capable of changing the tendency in recent matches so we must continue doing so.”
