Goalless draw between At. Malagueño and CD El Palo (0-0)

The training-match between the Blue and Whites’ second team and Second Division B side, CD El Palo failed to bring any goals. The rival was awarded a penalty but a good save by ‘Malaguista’ keeper, Toni Casamayor kept the score board level.

Salva Ballesta selected two different line-ups for each half of the match, giving every available player a chance on the pitch.  Juanpi and Mosquera underwent continuous running, along with goalkeeper, Sergio Ríos.  With Toni in goal, the starting-11 during the first half was made up of: Iván, Cris Tissone, Álex Portillo, Alberto, Samu Castillejo, Marrufo, Rafa, Vela, Pablo Ganet and Zalea.

The ‘Malaguistas’ maintained lengthy ball possession and showed a good combinative display in the area, although they didn’t generate any real goal chances.

In the second half, the team consisted of: Toni, Jurado, Calero, Cristian, Víctor Ruiz, Óscar, Deco, Rafa, Alberto, Rufo and Pedro Mérida.  Fifteen minutes in to play and Calero brought down CD El Palo’s Cardellino in the area, signalling a penalty.  Juanillo took the shot, aiming for the right of Toni, but the Malagueño keeper prevented a goal.

Despite a goalless draw, Salva Ballesta’s boys used this experience well and tried out new ideas.  Alberto played in a more upfront position on the left wing and ‘Juvenil’ player Óscar was on the far right.  A total of eight ‘Juvenil’ boys were in action.

The Blue and Whites’ reserve team is not taking part in League competition this weekend following Estepona’s departure.  The Blue and Whites’ next rival is Martos CD.
