Goal in stoppage time prevents a point (1-2)

Defeat for Málaga CF Femenino at home this Saturday against CD Femarguín SPAR Gran Canaria on matchday 28 of Segunda Federación Grupo Sur.

It was a very warm afternoon at the Francisco Romero ground in Rincón de la Victoria, in which a beautiful tribute was paid to Carla Baena, a 13-year-old goalkeeper from Alhaurín de la Torre CF who recently suffered intolerable insults on the pitch. Captain Ruth Acedo, on behalf of the entire team, presented Carla with a shirt with the number '1' signed by all the Blue and White players.

Juanma selected the following starting-11 Andrea; Olmedo, Águeda, Ruth, Yoli Peche; Marilén, M. Cortés, Teté, M. Farfán; Nazaret and Monterroso. The latter had a couple of good approaches in the first quarter of an hour that didn’t materialise. The match, with hardly any clear chances, went to half-time with the scoreboard at 0-0.

In the second half, Femarguín took the lead, when ex-Malaguista Andrea Ríos converted from the penalty spot (0-1, 52'). Another former Blue and White player is part of the rival team, attacker Judith Ledesma. Juanma made changes looking for more bite to go level. Reserve team player Jiménez showed a good performance on the left and together with homegrown player Carmen Aguilar, both were prominent during play.

Carmen Gómez, Tati and, in the final stretch, Estefanía, gradually entered the game. The second half was full of interruptions, fouls and wasted time by the rival, who continually hampered play. Just before 90', Estefa's deadly left foot appeared, recently recovered from a long-term injury, to equalise. A formidable long shot from the player from Sevilla, sending the ball into the net (1-1, 89').

However, the Malaguista happiness didn’t last long. In a quick action, visitor Mawi surpassed Andrea two minutes after the girls went level (1-2, 91'). María Cortés, with a free kick in 95', had the equaliser, but was unable to pierce the rival goal. The final 1-2 win gave Femarguín victory, leaving Málaga CF provisionally in 9th place in the table with 41 points.

On the next matchday, MCFF will add three more points as according to the calendar they will face CD Santa Teresa, a team that has retired from the competition, at home. The result, by decree, will be 0-3.
