The Malaguista captain at El Toralín spoke to the media in the mixed zone after the defeat against Ponferradina. “We apologise to the fans and thank you for coming here,” he stated.
“It’s a very hard day. We came with the conviction of winning the three points, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be,” he started out by saying. “We had the match under control, especially the first half,” he continued, and went on to “apologise to the fans” and show his “appreciation for coming here, spending their time and money. It's amazing how they kept cheering us on, even at 2-0 down.”
Escassi reviewed the season as a whole: “We didn't start well from the beginning, and we’ve been dragging all year. Now we have to give everything we’ve got whilst the maths allows.”
“I am super disappointed by the situation. We came with a very good dynamic, convinced we would score three points here and keep the dream alive. We have to continue giving our all for the club, the shield and the fans,” reaffirmed the Blue and White number '23', self-critical of the team's sporting situation: “The numbers are there. It’s a reality.”
Escassi, “Malagueño and Malaguista,” in his own words, reiterated his message of thanks to the fans and those who travelled to Ponferrada. “Thank you for the effort and all the kilometres you’ve covered. There are three matches left and we have to give everything. We apologise,” ending his speech by making himself available to the Club for the future: “I would die for Málaga, and I will be there whenever the club wants.”
