Genaro: “We’re a young group eager to win”

The new Malaguista number ‘16’ held a press conference on the day of his official presentation as a Blue and White player. “I’d like to thank the Club for making this possible. It’s a great place to grow both personally and as a player”, he said.

Genaro Rodríguez was officially presented today as a Malaguista player, along with his teammate Braian Cufré. The new Malaguista midfielder held a press conference in La Rosaleda’s Juan Cortés press room together with Málaga CF’s Sporting Director, Manolo Gaspar.

The press conference kicked off with a welcome from Manolo for the Sevilla-born player, thanking him for his willingness to negotiate the agreement. “I wish them luck, that injuries are kind to them and they fulfil their objectives”, said the Malaguista Sporting Director.

Genaro is happy to be able to continue growing with “an historic club. I’d like to thank the Club for making this possible. It’s a great place to grow both personally and as a player,” said the young player.

In regard to his role on the team, Genaro stated: “I’ve been playing in both positions. I feel more comfortable in midfield, but I work well in both. The group is young with experienced players. I’ve been here a couple of weeks but it feels like longer. We’re ambitious and work hard every day”, he said about the atmosphere within the team.

The new Malaguista player knows how tough LaLiga SmartBank is, in what is a very long, tight season. However, he’s ambitious and enthusiastic: “Everyone wants to be as high up the table as possible, but we’re only focusing on the next match. We’ll see what happens as the competition progresses and we’ll be in the place we deserve. I’m quite competitive. It’s going to be an exciting season. We’re a young group eager to win and achieve important things,” said the Malaguista number 16.

“The other day at home I got goosebumps, it was the first match with the fans for such a long time. Hopefully we’ll soon see a capacity crowd at La Rosaleda”, Genaro said about the return of the fans to La Rosaleda for the first match of the season against CD Mirandés.
