Gámez: “The team has the ability to make that turnaround”

The captain of Málaga’s first team, Jesús Gámez, spoke to the media this morning in the Ciudad de Málaga press room.

Gámez’s statements:

(Great moment / Getafe). “The team’s doing great things and it’s a track on which we have to keep on.  The team has the capacity to make these turnarounds. The constancy of wanting to always win is something very positive and it’ll serve us well in the future. Coming from where we came from, the difficult thing has been getting to where we are; it now seems easy but for a few years it never happened.  We’re going through a good patch and, at the moment, enjoying it. On merit, the team deserved the three points, they (Getafe), with 2-1 at minute 30, is when we could’ve walked away with no points, but we kept on trying throughout the match and eventually we got there.”

(Apoño / Internationals).  “Apoño is an important player, but he’s not playing at the moment; we’re 25 people who want to play.  He has to keep on working hard for when the boss decides to put him on.  The boss is clear that Apoño has to carry on working and when the boss sees the opportune time that’s when it’ll be.  FIFA virus?  It’s normal that the national side is knocking on our door and, in the future, we hope there’ll be much more.  I’ll keep going as I am, and if one day, that day arrives for me, I’ll take full advantage of it.”

(Team / Jaén).  “For the most part in most games we have possession of the ball, it helps to move up, it creates gaps, and we have to take advantage of that.  We’re preparing for it.  Jaén? Get the positive result in the least amount of time as possible, is what we want. Importance should always been placed on these kinds of matches for those who aren’t on form physically.”

(next league rival). “Levante are doing things properly, they’re difficult in attack, they’re not conceding many goals and they’re taking full advantage of all their opportunities.  I know people and I imagine that right now they’ll be euphoric, as soon as they do their homework, the better for them."

(Singings / Pellegrini). “It doesn’t feature as part of our work, there’s a great team and it’s not our decision if there are changes to be made. Pellegrini? He came from Real Madrid with many points and then here halfway through the seasons with little time to make big changes.  But now the team’s working well and that work is being shown in the league table.”
