Atlético Malagueño

Funes and Bravo continue until 2023

The Club Atlético Malagueño coaching duo will remain with the Blue and White entity until the end of the 22/23 season, with the option of extending their respective contracts for another year.

Juanfran Funes (Loja, Granada, 1983) and Francis Bravo (Málaga, 1974) head up the coaching team of Málaga Club de Fútbol’s reserve team, Atlético Malagueño. Alongside them is physical trainer, José Antonio Lizana and goalkeeper coach ‘Caco’ de la Torre, with medics including Doctor Nacho Pascual and physiotherapist Josemi Escobar. Delegate Raúl Iznata and kit manager Miguel Meléndez complete the work group of the Blue and White team.

This is the second season at the helm of Malagueño for Funes and Bravo, backed by the trust of sporting director Manolo Gaspar, and head of the MCF Academy, Sergio Paulo Barbosa Valente 'Duda'.

The Club continues its commitment to two coaches whose main mission is to train their young players, to enable them to acquire a suitable competitive level so they are prepared to make the leap to the MCF first team.

During Funes and Bravo’s time heading up Malagueño, several homegrown players from the reserve and ‘Juvenil’ teams have made their first team debut. This season, Kevin, Roberto, Dani Lorenzo and Moussa debuted, and last season saw Benítez, Andrés Caro, Quintana, Larrubia, Loren, Julio, Haitam and Issa Fomba in action.

The coaches, immersed in the competition with an Atlético Malagueño in third place of Tercera RFEF Group 9, are already planning next season taking into account the team’s two possible scenarios, either remaining in the same division or, in the event of promotion, moving up to Segunda RFEF.

Málaga CF is thrilled to continue having two people committed to and identified with a Blue and White project, whose main asset in the present and for the future, is The Academy.
