Fourth away fixture on the bounce scoring points (0-0)

All square for Málaga CF against CD Tenerife at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López on LaLiga 1|2|3 matchday 23. Four away games, including this one, without defeat, counting Mallorca, Oviedo and Zaragoza.

Málaga CF stepped on to the pitch this Saturday at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, 10 years since the last time. However, on this occasion the moments before kick-off were marked by a tribute to little Julen whose body was found on Saturday. The historic stadium observed a minute’s silence and Juan Ramón López Muñiz’s team wore white armbands (dressed in the black strip) as a sign of mourning.

Both teams were tested in the early stages of the game. The locals attempted to frequent the attacking half, but Málaga didn’t allow any dangerous incursions. Dani Pacheco tried his luck with a distant shot to surprise Dani Hernández, but the ball deviated towards the near post. N’Diaye, Blanco Leschuk and Harper also flirted with the goal, but didn’t manage to open the scoring. The scoreboard remained at 0-0 at half-time.

In the first minutes of the second half, both teams, well-positioned on the field of play, showed few cracks in their defence. That said, the Heliodoro Rodríguez López held its breath when Pacheco propelled a tight shot from in front of the target in 57’ that grazed the wood. Just four minutes later, Harper sent out a warning with a dry shot from inside the area that skimmed the top of the crossbar.

Tenerife responded and generated a clear opportunity in 71’ from a corner, but Adrián managed to clear the attempt on the line. Ontiveros, who came on to the pitch in place of Pacheco, also came very close to putting Málaga in front. The Marbella-born winger tried to overcome the rival keeper with a shot that sailed over the crossbar. The exchange of opportunities led to a near miss for the home side and a miraculous intervention by Munir.

In the end, neither team managed to score, with the final result 0-0. As such, Málaga accumulated the fourth away match without defeat and remain in second place in the standings with 43 points.
