Fernando Hierro: “There’s an extensive squad and the manager has confidence in it”
Málaga Club de Fútbol’s General Manager, Fernando Ruiz Hierro, spoke to the media this afternoon in La Rosaleda’s press room following the presentation of the new Malaguista goalkeeper, Kameni.
Fernando Hierro’s statements:
Sporting analysis – Kameni’s arrival “We’ve got to be realistic. We all know that it’s still a new project and we want to think about the future and we know it won’t be all plain sailing. We’re very relaxed; you get results by all working together towards one shared idea. We have time ahead and we’re giving a message of unity. Today’s a great day, Kameni’s arrived and we’re grateful that he’s chosen us after having had other offers. It’s a fantastic signing. His allocation? Rosario’s, we’re immersed in other operations but it’s Helder who’s away.”
January – Pellegrini “We know that the month of January is difficult. We’re currently in eighth place and we have some rivals who are in very close positions to us on the table. The Manager is the best possible manager for this project, if the results are achieved or not, it will all be done together. Apoño? There’s not a marked route, there’s not just one alternative, and we haven’t just got the door open. There are teams who are vying for him. The dressing room is an internal matter and the guy who is ultimately in charge is the manager. Manuel has a lot of experience and knows how to manage dressing rooms. There’s absolute confidence in him and his way of working.”
Extensive squad – Barcelona “In principal we’re not thinking about incorporating anyone else, there’s an extensive squad and the manager has confidence in it. Barça? We’ve got to think that we can win. Undoubtedly, Barcelona is a superb team that’s been sweeping the board for three or four years, but as a sportsman, I don’t imagine that we can’t win. Unless something extraordinary happens the team is now complete. We work as a group and the coach is happy with the incorporation of Carlos – Kameni – and we’re happy with this squad. You don’t have to change it constantly. Pellegrini is happy with the team he has.”
Visits to Qatar – Owners “It’s not a regular thing, we’ve got a plan and from the Club we’re working on it properly, correctly and with all the transparency in the world. In addition, there are sufficient people in Málaga and we accept that responsibility.”
La Academia “It’s vital for the growth of the Club, we have to support everything it represents because La Academia is fundamental. It’s a priority and it’s not standing still at all.”
