Femenino bid farewell to the Copa Andalucía (5-1)

The Blue and Whites were defeated by Real Betis Balompié by 5-1 in the semi-finals of the Copa Andalucía.

It wasn’t to be. Málaga CF Femenino are out of the regional tournament after losing to Betis by 5 goals to 1, in the semi-finals of the Copa Andalucía. Despite the Malaguistas coming out with a strong attack during the initial stages of play, Andrea put the Green and Whites ahead in minute 13 (1-0). Both teams shared subsequent possession, but it was again Andrea who increased Betis’ lead to 2-0 in minute 27, and again two minutes later the striker scored the 3-0. A great save by María Sampalo prevented the rival getting a fourth goal before half-time.

As play resumed, there was a change in the Málaga goal, with Chelsea coming on in place of Sampalo who suffered raised blood pressure and left the pitch. The Malaguista defence was reinforced with various changes, and in 56’ Pamela had the 3-1 at her feet, but the ball hit the post. Four minutes later, a powerful shot from Andrea made it 4-0 for Betis. Six minutes before the end, the referee declared a penalty in Málaga’s favour, with Pamela making it 4-1 from the penalty spot. In four minutes of extra time, and in minute 82, Paulita scored the final goal, ending the match with a 5-1 result.
