UDLP enjoyed a big win in Málaga CF’s first home game of the season
Málaga CF and UD Las Palmas faced one another on this hot Monday 22nd August on matchday 2 of LaLiga SmartBank 22/23. This was the Blue and Whites’ first match at their stadium this season, in front of more than 21,000 fans.
MCF stepped on to the pitch with the aim of dominating and cornering the rival from the start. The visitors, with great resources on the field of play, also tried to impose themselves against the pace of the Blue and Whites.
Guede's men generated dangerous approaches to take the lead, but it was UD Las Palmas who managed to make it 0-1. Óscar Clemente scored the first goal of the match in minute 44, just before half-time.
In the second half, the locals were spurred on by the support from the stands. The atmosphere gave the Blue and Whites a real boost as they attempted to surprise the rival. However, Marc Cardona finished a cross from the left into the heart of the area after a counterattack, to increase the lead of the 'pio-pio' outfit (0-2, min 55').
The Yellows reflected their superiority on the pitch on to the scoreboard and struck gold on another two occasions. Álvaro JG scored the 3-0 (70') and Marvin got the fourth three minutes before the final whistle.
Málaga are heading to Miranda de Ebro this week for the third league match of the season.
