The Malaguista central defender spoke to the media following the match against UD Almería: “I think there’s a good predisposition this pre-season, we’re working incredibly hard.”
The Argentinean defender scored the Malaguista goal in this Saturday’s friendly at Montecastillo. After the game he had a few words for the media. “I’m happy to play and not suffer any pain this pre-season, which is normal for us all. We’re training well, I’m pleased to be having a good pre-season. I think there’s a good predisposition this pre-season, we’re working incredibly hard. Now it’s time to face the season with the responsibility that this club demands,” he started out by saying.
He was subsequently questioned about his leadership in defence: “When the match gets underway you try to talk to the others and show order, and when it starts to flow you gain more confidence. You need to show that you’re 30 years old, which is important. When I was 22 I didn’t understand, but I’m starting to a little more now (laughs). I think that from the back we can see everything better and the signals have to come from us,” he added.
The pre-season is coming to an end and we’re starting to see the team’s identity: “I think we’re getting a little closer to reality as the intense workload is starting to ease somewhat, so now the team has to be ready. I’m happy we competed as equals, we competed very well. It’s been a great test for us, and we worked hard,” he explained.
The defensive line remained strong and united: “There’s a lot of communication. We already knew one other from having faced each other before. They know the division well, you know them, and are aware of their consistency. I like the two systems. We need to work on the one with three centre-backs, which we’ve been doing for a while now. We’ve been focusing on coping with incessant pressure during play. It’s also great to have the system of four as many things can happen in the competition. We have to be ready for any situation,” he stated.
“It’s important to always go for the result and end with these good sensations. We say many things we’ve been working on today, the rotations, movement of the ball, how to attack such an advanced defence… I think it went well and we generated situations,” he commented.
