Nacho named new MCFF manager!

The women’s team will have a new coach for the 22/23 season. Nacho Pérez, an icon of the Malaguista Family, takes the reins of the first team.

To speak of Ignacio Pérez Santamaría (Málaga, 1980) is to speak of the Pérez-Frías story, a connection to the Club that goes far beyond work. An elite footballer for over a decade, Nacho made history as a youth player with Málaga B and played at various stages with Málaga CF. Between the First and Second Divisions and the Copa del Rey, he accumulated a total of 369 matches with several Spanish teams.

As second coach, Nacho formed part of CD San Félix that claimed an unforgettable third place in División de Honor Group 4 in the 17/18 season, and reached the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.

Then as head coach, he completed a phenomenal campaign with the Juvenil ‘B’ team in Liga Nacional (18/19) and two fantastic seasons with Málaga CF’s Juvenil 'A'. In 19/20, the suspension of the competition due to COVID-19 prevented the second-placed team from reaching major objectives. Then in 20/21, the team was proclaimed regional champions with the best stats on record for The Academy’s first Juvenil team. Nacho subsequently moved to coach Antequera CF in 21/22, competing in Segunda RFEF.

Now he returns to the Club for a new and exciting experience in women's football. His ability, talent, involvement and tactical knowledge, together with his passion for the Blue and White colours, make him the ideal choice for our women’s team to continue progressing. He won’t do it alone, as he’ll head up a revamped coaching team together with his inseparable Juanma Gómez.

Málaga CF wishes Nacho the best of luck in his new stage at the Entity. Naturally, we’re immensely grateful for the professionalism, dedication and hard work of the previous coaching team led by Ayala, another member of the Malaguista Family, who has been at the helm of the first and second women's teams in recent seasons, obtaining great results and always fulfilling the set objectives. Thank you and good luck, míster.
