Einar: “We still have things to improve; we will go to Eibar prepared”

The centre-back analysed Málaga’s defeat to Castellón in the club’s ‘Juan Cortés’ press room. “In the second half, with more transitions, Castellón punished us,” he said.

Review of the 2-3 defeat

“In the first half, both the team and I played at a very good level. In terms of control, we were solid, and in the second half, with more transitions, Castellón punished us. They are two different contexts and, unfortunately, we are leaving with zero points.”

Further analysis

“In the first half we were doing well. In the second, they pressed higher with more intensity, with Ronaldo playing as a midfielder bringing a lot of physical energy, and it became much more difficult for us.”

Transitions and defending

“It’s something we have to improve if we want to be in a hypothetical playoff. It’s a key area for improvement, just like set pieces, which punished us today. Defensively, we also have to take that step forward and keep a clean sheet.”

Battle lost

“It’s a tough blow, but it’s just one battle. The war is not over, there are still 15 points to play for. We have to go to Eibar and that’s all we’re thinking about. We still have things to improve, analyse our performance, and go there as prepared as possible.”

Starting line-up

“Today (Funes) decided I would start, just as on other days he hasn’t, or has. From there, it’s about doing my best. I’m not happy today, but that’s it.”
