Duda: “We’ll fight until the end for 7th place”

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s Sergio Paulo Barbosa Valente 'Duda' held a press conference at the Ciudad de Málaga athletics stadium to talk about the team’s current situation.

Duda discusses the team’s important victory against Almería: “We never felt any pressure, and it feels like a small weight has been lifted since last Sunday’s win.  We’re hoping to really step up our performance in the last two games.  We’re completely depending on ourselves.”

The Portuguese-born player says the team’s objective in the forthcoming two matches is to maintain 7th place: “Our primary objective we fulfilled some time ago, but securing this position would be a reward for all our hard work.  Although we know it won’t be easy, we’ll fight until the end.  We could achieve something great this season; everyone will be a winner.”

The Blue and Whites are preparing for the match against Villarreal CF: “It’s tough, but we’ll maintain maximum concentration.  The rival isn’t playing for any objectives, apart from their dignity.”

Last Sunday Duda became the ‘Malaguista’ to play the highest number of First Division games with the Blue and Whites: “I’m thrilled to have reached these numbers, and I hope to continue in the same vein and break more records.  I focus on each game at a time and enjoy every day with this Club.”

Lastly, with regards to his continuity, the ‘Malaguista’ captain hopes everything will be resolved quickly: “We’ve nearly got everything done, which will be confirmed within the next few days.  There won’t be any problem.”
