Duda: “The team responded and tried everything to turn it around”

At the end of the Málaga vs Betis match, in La Rosaleda’s Mixed Zone, three Blue and Whites players, Duda, Gámez and Weligton, spoke to the press.

Mixed Zone:

Duda
“It wasn’t expected that we’d lose, but we did a great job and had numerous goal chances, but we paid dearly for two mistakes.  We tried to turn the match around but it seemed that whatever we did today we weren’t going to get a goal.  In football, if you don’t score, you end-up paying for it.  We had some clear chances throughout the entire game, but the important thing is to carry on improving on the mistakes we made.”

Gámez
“The team deserved the three points; they (the rivals) only had two chances with set pieces.  Today the ball just didn’t want to go in and there’s nothing to impute to the team. Even with our stumble today we remain high up in the table.  Now we must hold our heads high and take on Racing on Monday, giving it our all to take the three points.”

Weligton
“A result we didn’t expect, but we also know that teams can ‘get’ you when you’re not expecting it.  We defended well, there were two timely set pieces and it was a day when the ball didn’t want to go in.  Betis must be congratulated, they defended very well and the ball didn’t want to get in.  We had in our hands n opportunity to get a good cushion points.  It’s down to us, we have to rest and then we have another important home game.”
