Duda: “The team has grown since the arrival of Romero”

The Blue and Whites’ captain affirms that “we have to continue working along this line and try to improve. As soon as we start scoring goals, things will go much better”.

#VillarrealMálaga

“We must continue working as we have been doing. On Sunday, we’re facing a rival who are the favourites in terms of earning points and gameplay, but we’re going to focus on doing our job and playing to win. Málaga must win on Sunday. We’re going to go all out to gain the three points, and remove ourselves from this negative streak. Of course, it’s not going to be easy, but we’ll concentrate on working well, using our strengths. We won’t stop trying for 90 minutes to achieve the three points”.

Opportunities

“Beforehand, the ball found the net without too much effort. Now, we’re creating plenty of chances in matches and gaining possession, but the ball doesn’t want to go in. We know football’s like that. As soon as we start scoring goals, things will go much better”.

Improvement of the team

“The team has grown. I think since Marcelo Romero took the reins, we’ve improved a great deal defensively, with more possession and far more opportunities during play. We’re missing out on the goals needed to secure positive results. We have to continue working along this same line and try to improve. When the ball starts going in the net, it’ll be much better and we can all enjoy it”.

Weligton, assistant coach

“It’s strange to have him sitting beside you and now seeing him on the pitch. I’m happy he’s still working with us. He’ll bring his great experience to many players”.

More experience

“They used to be part of the dressing room. I’m thrilled, as they are there because they deserve to be. I hope they continue to fight as they did on the field of play. They have experience to help and support us in the dressing room, so I think things will get better”.
