Diego González: “We’re starting to see the automatisms little by little”

The Malaguista central defender spoke after the goalless draw in Algeciras. “We know the pre-seasons are tough and you can tell how much work we’ve been doing”, he stated.

0-0

“It was a pretty even game, but we put into play what the coach has been telling us over the past fortnight, so it’s good, I’m happy. The team enjoyed the game and had good sensations. Today wasn’t a match in which to focus on the result”.

Style of play

We’re starting to see the automatisms little by little, the idea of proposing actions, taking the ball from behind and many other things we’re introducing bit by bit. You can certainly tell”.

Lots of work

We know the pre-seasons are tough, double training sessions and heavy workloads, but we are aware that every season you need to suffer a little during this time and keep moving forward”.

Dressing room and homegrown players

“We’re a team that’s characterised by the dressing room, which makes the day-to-day easier. Everyone is working well, the young lads who have joined the team have been training well from day one, contributing as much as everyone else, which they must keep doing. If they continue working like this, I’m sure they’ll reap the rewards in LaLiga.”

Starting to compete

“In the end, what we like most is playing football. Playing a match is better than running around. It’s a good way to train and put into practice what we’ve learned. The first match of the season is going to be great for everyone, we can’t wait and will be bursting with enthusiasm from the outset”.
